Chiropractic and Babies! Works like a charm!
Written by philippe
As I was up feeding last night with my 4 week old twins at 1030, (then 230, and again at 530), I realized how wonderful life is and how babies are such a glorious expression of it.  How is it that I can think of that at those times of the night you say? Especially as I have to think about going to work the next day…..  Well, I think I’m really lucky, but, I’m also lucky for having the skills that I have learned over time – that is – Chiropractic.

As I sit there feeding either Caelan or Rhian, I find myself, nearly every time, walking my fingers up their spines, and checking out what’s going on and how their little vertebrae are moving and positioned.  Also, it’s a certainty that at one point or another (one of the joys of having twins) one of them will be fussing – is it gas? Dirty diaper? Need a cuddle? Hungry?  You go down the list, and, as is often the case, they have some gas, or even some kind of upset tummy.  Now I’m not going to say either of these kids has colic at this point – but what would happen if I didn’t ever put my hands on them?  Would they have colic?  Not sure.

What I do know, is that I have observed the following:  Of the now four kids I have, none of them has had “colic”.  I’ve treated every one of them, and they have all done well in that regard.  What I also know, is that (according to my mother) I was a devil child that never stopped crying.  From what I can see, there must have been some likelihood that at least 1 in 4 would be colicy, based on genetics and the likelihood of passing down something along the way.

So this is what I do – each time I feed them I quickly check their spines, and if they are fussing, I spend 2 minutes doing some visceral work – ie massaging their tummies.  Bar none, they are asleep happily within 10 minutes every time.  Now, being half asleep at that time of day, sometimes it takes a while to go through the above mentioned list, and when I finally clue in – presto!

Friends of mine with kids have come in with colicy babies, and so far the improvement/cure rate is 100% within 4 treatments.

Babies have bumps along the road, just like us – starting with the birth canal, being vigorously burped, jiggled, and rocked in a stroller – they’re little things don’t forget.  Maleable, but little and fragile nonetheless.

So people often ask “why would you need to treat a baby?”  Well – that’s why…..

If you have any further questions on treating babies, toddlers, or older children, please call me….

All the best,

Philippe
